By: Anita Surendra Gupta, Feme Fashions Bureau, Mumbai | 14 Oct 2011

Going with the current haircuts and hair styles trends sounds better than sticking to your old, boring and usual hair do. This not only makes you a trend setter but also changes your over all look and who would not like to reinvent themselves on regular basis.

From short to long, every hair length with a twist is the selling formula this season!

Retro hair styles have made a comeback this year and every style that adds volume to your hair is in. straight hair moves out making place for wavy, that's hot now.

Those who have short hair can go for artificial curls but a softer look. This will give a natural look to the hair adding volume and is also easy to maintain. One can also go for a stylish and sleek cut that gives a very soft and feminine look.

Mid-length hair is the best this season because it's easy to maintain and is flexible. You can experiment with cuts, styles and colours the way you want. Bhumika Verma from Juice salon says, "Those with mid-length hair have ample of options to try. From stylish cuts to textures to hair styles, they can go with almost anything as mid-length hair gels well with anything." Medium length hair offers too many adapting ideas and it's fit for people with different face shapes.

Cuts that add volume to your hair are in. So get it cut in a style that you want and let them be. Layers add volume to your hair and leaving your hair natural will add waves and curls too.

Moin Barfiwala from Hair Expresso says, "Curls and waves are best anytime because they are a great way to work with the natural texture of your hair. But as they say, too much of anything is bad; the trick is to keep everything minimal and soft. Do not over do it."

Those with long hair should try and opt for cuts that help them maintain their tresses. Long hair comes with responsibility of careful washing, oiling, maintaining. Make sure you live to the expectations of your hair. So cuts with layers and length will do a good favour to your hair and also ensure they are tangle free.

Shruti Patnaik from Vitamins says, "Long hair becomes messy if not taken care of. A stylish cut with subtle hints of curls and waves will work wonders. Cuts like step with layers and feather cut compliment long hair lengths."

For men, military cuts, spikes, straight fringes are some of the styles that are in.

Hair designs that are getting popular are braids, messy pony tails, low buns, birds nest buns or top knots. Braids are a big hit this season with even celebrities going for different types of chotis. A messy choti with a kurta or even a dress works wonders for younger lot while a tidy one is for the mature group.
