1. 'Appearing in their best ever looks of the lifetime on the marriage day' is a natural dream for many young girls. What are the few best cares they can take for their skin on the day?
The preparation should start at least 3 months in advance for the skin to look its best on the wedding day. The bride should make sure she uses a soap free wash for her face and uses a sunscreen on a daily basis Along with this at home, she can use a pack made of: cream with honey for dry skins or tomato with lime for oily skin, once a week, left on for 20 mins.
This will exfoliate the dead skin and bring about a glow One week before the wedding, she should wash her face with milk every night and apply shredded cucumber to the face as a pack at night daily for 10 mins only. This will help hydrate the skin the keep it fresh.
2. Can you pls give few dos and don'ts for the skin to look better on the wedding day.
DONTs:
- Dont pick on any spots or blemishes, have your dermatologist remove them for you.
- Dont bleach your face just before the wedding, do it at least a week before, this way the skin can balance its moisture levels before the wedding and make up.
- Don’t go to bed with the makeup no matter how tired you are.
DOs:
- Start your skin regimen at least 3 months before the wedding. Plan on it and make time to see your dermatologist regularly for this.
- Drink at least 3 litres of water per day.
- Remove all the make up at bedtime.
- Have your pre bridal facials at least 5 days before the event so that your skin can get over any irritations.
- Use a good hydrating cream at night before bed or a serum to give your skin an extra boost.
- Have water proof make up done for the wedding so that it is sweat proof.
3. When excited, many young women show up blushes on their face. How can they control that?
Blushing is a normal physiological response. It can’t be stopped as it is under the control of the nervous system.
Blushing adds beauty to the bride so why stop it?
4. As you specialised in Indian skin, What are the cares you suggest for: 1. fairer skin, 2. medium complexion, 3. completely dark skin to shine?
The skin care does not depend on the skin colour. For all patients I recommend a Vitamin C cream or lotion with a sunscreen.
- At night I would advise them to use a hydrator or moisturiser based on the skins needs.
- Once over 30, the skin needs a Vitamin A cream to be used twice a week for its anti ageing benefits.
- Also the benefits of a oral antioxidant is tremendous. These are a must.
- Also a professional peel once in 6- 8 weeks is advised to maintain skin tone and texture.
5. How can a woman control unwanted sweat on face and other parts on the wedding day?
Sweating – face and underarms becomes a problem especially during the wedding as there is an emotional trigger, plus the temperature issue with the heavy saris , make up and lights.
- A lot of brides undergo Botox for their underarms, so that they don’t have the ugly sweat stains on their dresses and blouses.
- This procedure takes 15 mins to do and the results show in 10 – 14 days. The effects last for 4 – 6 months.
- This is a very popular procedure with the brides. I recommend that they undergo the procedure a month before the wedding. That way they can be sweat and stain free.
6. Is there any difference in care for South Indian skin and North Indian Skin?
There are various differences: Commonly:
- Skin colour: generally north Indian skin is fairer due to the Aryan influence and South Indian skin is darker due to the Dravidian influence.
- Also the skin is more sensitive and thinner in North Indian skin, but more resilient on one hand, whereas South Indian skin can be very sensitive to certain procedures and extra care has to be take.
- North Indian skin tends to get pigmentation and freckling more than South Indian skin.
7. What are the modern methods or procedures available for skin tone and health?
There are various techniques available like Chemical peel / skin polishing to maintain skin health and tone that have been around for ages.
- Laser skin rejuvenation is one of the latest techniques to tighten skin without side effects.
- The Fractional laser for acne scar rejuvenation is the latest in scar remodelling and can be used safely on Indian skin.
- The latest trend is towards non surgical, so we have what is called a LIQUID FACELIFT, where by means of injection like Botox, Esthélis / Fortelis / Juvederm we are able to achieve facial lift and contouring.
- We also do Meso Botox for pre bridals to close open pores and give the skin a shine on their wedding day.
- For brides I recommend a 6 week course of the renowned Oxygen Infusion for glowing skin on the wedding day.
