For centuries, mankind has been known to create sacred spaces for solitude. The places that are away from the mundane world, to spend time in introspect, self healing and to revel in an ocean inner peace.
The Resort Hotel at the sea-face of Aksa Beach introduces a modern day equivalent of these conventional centers of relaxation with a rejuvenating month long festival that celebrates 'Abhyangam', a classical ayurveda massage by rich expertise of Kerala that intends to give its very own slice of nirvana.
Maintaining health and vigour has been of prime needs for humans from time immemorial. "Our forefathers have always stressed on the significance of traditional and authentic rejuvenation techniques that helps in improvising the immunity levels of the body and keep the body fit and strong," revealed Nancy Karia, Spa & Recreation Executive of The Resort.
Abhyangam increases the production of white blood corpuscles and antibodies that provides more resistance against viruses and diseases. "The benefits are that it increases the immunity towards environmental changes, helps defensive mechanism in the body and increases self-confidence and will power," briefed Nancy about the technique that is itself a protector, preserver and rejuvenator.
Abhyangam, the word itself means to massage and is one of the most popular techniques for its effective way of conditioning the body.
This is an ayurvedic way of oil massage with Marma therapy. Gentle pressure on Marma or the vital points in the body provides Prana energy to the body and mind that gives ultimate healing. The medicated herb infused oil used is warmed up and gently massaged all over the body. It is deeply relaxing, harmonizes, detoxifies, strengthens and revitalizes the entire human body. Along with that, it calms and strengthens the nervous system.
The massage is described as jarahar (anti-aging), shram har (fatigue reliever), vata har (pacifies the vata), drishti prasad kar (improves sight), pushti kar (make one strong), ayu kar (provides longevity), swapna kar (induces sleep), twak drik kar (strengthens the skin), klesh sahatwa (provides resistance against disease and disharmony), abhigat shatwa (resistance to injuries and power to recover quickly), kapha vata nirodhak (subsides ailments caused by vata and kapha) and mrija varna bala prad (improves texture of the skin).
Abhyangam is highly praised and much emphasis is placed on the use of oils in massage. So this season, before the winter sets in an abhyangam massage at The Resort is enough for an uplifting experience of divine wellness.
