Esha met Bharat through common friends a few years ago and since then they have been inseparable. Mother Hema Malini and dad Dharmendra were looking for a suitable groom for their daughter since quiet some time and when they realised that their daughter was in love with Bharat they decide to go ahead with the match.
Hema Malini is the happiest person as she adores Bharat and agreed to the match immediately. For Esha, her mother's approval was important because it is known that she wasn't very happy when she was dating Bollywood actor Aftab Shivdasani.
But Esha was keen on reviving her career and hence came 'Tell Me Oh Khuda', but failed miserably at the box office. Esha had promised her parents that she will get married if her film fails and now she keeps her promise.
The engagement that happened on Sunday morning was a private affair with only family members and a couple of close friends amongst whom Jaya Bachchan was the only prominent face.
Esha wore a beautiful candy pink saree that she paired with lime green blouse and simple diamond jewellery. The saree was picked by younger sister and designer Ahana Deol. Bharat was seen in off-white shirt and coat with a cream pant.
After the ceremony Esha met reporters standing outside her bungalow and said, "I am happy and I thank everyone for their blessings." While Hema said, "We are very happy today for Esha and Bharat. It is a happy moment for all of us. Bharat is a very nice person. It is a private function."
Though the date of marriage is yet to be fixed, a formal announcement will come soon after the families zero upon an auspicious one.
