High-End Fashion At Chivas Studio Launch Night

By: Monu Sharma, Feme Fashion Bureau, Kolkata | 17 Jan 2010

The Chivas Studio premieres in India, comes to Kolkata this weekend. The event attracts fashion experts, designers, models, actors and many more….

Global luxury brand launch in Kolkata experiences high-end fashion. The ‘Chivas Studio’, two day event fuses Indian designers and fashion experts.

Indian designers Ashish N Soni and JJ Valaya were the designers for the first day show.

The show witnessed ‘shock clarifying collection’ by Ashish.

Ashish N Soni is known for serious garments and approach to fashion that’s free of hype, hoopla and focus on drawing right line on fabric. He believes in a certain kind of purity and a commitment to what is modern in terms of fabrics, textures, embellishments, shapes and finishes.

The three key elements, on which his collection for Chivas is built, are the design’s played down aesthetic, tailoring prowess and keen fashion instincts. He showcases ‘Dark Theme’ with relaxed and textured garments. The black shade on ramp fuses masculine as well as feminine wear.

The feminine wear collection includes – short dresses, a line frocks, jackets, trousers, shirts, tops and short skirts whereas masculine wear collection includes – jackets, suits, trousers, prince colour coat, shirts and tie.

The simple and relaxed cut gave the attires a fashionable yet sober look. The collection was highly appreciated by one and all, simple neckline and sleeve cut was the main attraction for feminine wear whereas men had unique color cut and side cut.

The show was not over with his collection, there was something more surprising at the end. Sharman Joshi, 3 idiot movie star was the showstopper for the evening. Sharman was looking dashing in ‘Black Suit’ with ‘Red Shirt’, took away everybody’s glance.

Later, the night was beautified with JJ Valaya’s collection. The kingdom of JJ Valaya delivers a no-nonsense decree abolishing all things negative and violent.

In a severe contradiction to the mood around the globe, the collection serves a big, juicy nostalgic kiss to a world that deserves to be loved. The cumulative effect, unbashed glamour, elegance, volume, oodles of optimism is all what the collection was all about in ‘The Chivas Studio’.

The rich refreshing collection includes feminine wear - Salwar kameez, sarees, Indo western dress, long dresses, skirts and many more.

The ‘Nomadic Royal’ theme includes light and English shades say white, off white, green, orange, peach, and green.

One of the best known designers JJ Valaya plays with chiffon and comfortable fabric in his collection.  Nonetheless, his collection depicted marriage of uniqueness of India’s craft and tradition with the energy and the ever changing nature of contemporary fashion and lifestyle that sets the pace for Valaya.

Designer JJ Valaya says, “It’s pleasure to be part of this show. My collection is the blend of Indian embroidery and jeweled attires. There are few designs that are intricated in a manner that one need not wear jewellery. The Indian embroidery and handmade fabric plays a pure role in the collection.”

He signs off, “Hence, I love India so, I believe in using true style. My latest Indian collection is meant for those capable of carrying off both the whimsical and the bold.”
