LFW Day 3: Chic and Sexy Women's Wear Line

By: Anju Gupta, Feme Fashions Bureau, Mumbai | 8 Mar 2010

Day 3 of the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week was thanda, but there were some designers like Shantanu-Nikhil who made up for the other designers.

Designer duo Shantanu-Nikhil displayed their sporty yet very fashionable collection at the fashion festival. They worked for the sports brand Adidas at the fashion week and their label was named as "Adidas Style Essentials" -- a sports-inspired fashion brand for youngsters.

The collection called “Motochic” was blended with striking drapes for easy comfort. The S&N line of apparel was balanced perfectly with footwear and accessories which had as its inspiration the black and yellow stripe which for once reminded us of us of the yellow and black Mumbai Taxis.

The show was divided in three parts Urban Traveller, Tee Time and City Bike. The collections had track pants, shirts, skirts, tunics as well as trendy bags, belts and wallets. The designers gave stylish cuts to long ladies tops; while men’s T-shirt designs revolved around muscle sleeve Tees and body hugging shoulders.

The show opened with a smart yellow knit jumpsuit and we must say that the women’s wear line was chic and sexy. The collection had micro balloon shorts, one shoulder tunics, checkered swimsuits, short jackets with checked tights and Tee, which really forms an an interesting collection.Kimono tops, one shoulder checked dresses and ombre swimmer were some of the eye catchers of the show.

Bollywood hottie Deepika Padokone walked the ramp for them in a diagonal striped sleeveless Tee with a shimmering clinched waist teamed with metallic balloon micro shorts. She looked so cute but we wish she would not have used that curl extensions as it did not go down well with her look.

Bollywood actresses Neha Dhupia, Abhishek Kapoor, Sophie Chaudhary, Dia Mirza and Shamita Shetty, along with Sania Mirza, were spotted cheering up the designer sitting in the front row.

Coming to Anand Bhushan had showcase a collection which was high on adrenaline, but it looked out of place as the theme was summer/resort and not winter.Models walked the ramp wearing silk silhouettes, zippers, body hugging jackets and at once we though that we are watching the winter collection of the fashion week. The colors which he used were light chocolate brown, beige, white in fabrics like linen, silk but then his collections were thanda and audiences seemed to hate it.

Then their was designer Swapnil Shinde who too went over board with his inspiration from ‘Balenciaga’.We did not like his collection of techno beats and his models looked uncomfortable too.

Swapnil’s collection was a strong dose of Balenciaga’s spring 2008 Paris fashion week show and he showcased sculpted sleeves and belled hip volume skirts.High-waist lycra skirts splashed with diamantes is not a resort wear collection and we think it is more for those who like to dresses like a disastrous for their disco parties.
