Mixed Reactions For WLIFW

By: Bhawna Satsangi, Feme Fashions Bureau, Delhi | 21 Feb 2012

The just concluded WLIFW had a mix response from the designers; they believe that the mega event was just another reason for them to look out for business and much more. However, for some the event did not give them the opportunity in terms of business and showcasing.

The much hyped Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week just concluded with the grand finale show by JJ Valaya. Where there have been some designers who feel delighted to be a part of the event, there have been a lot who feel that the mega event did not benefit them as it could have been.

The accessory designers who had displayed their collection at the stalls feel that the event was only for the designers and is not for them. A designer who does not wish to name informs, "We displayed our collection here but we did not get any good business out of the event. Having spent so much money while taking the stall yet there has not been any profits we could generate out of here."

Not only this, new designers too feel the same about the event as they feel that they have spent in lakhs for just a five minute show and are not taking any business out of the event. "Since there were not much buyers at the event, I am not able to generate good business," says a designer.

Where there have been some who are complaining about the business, there is another section of the designers who felt that for them the event was a success. Talking about the business designers Ankita and Avantika inform, "We think the decision of preponing the event to February is a wise decision that the council has taken as this time we feel there were buyers who are looking for something unique and trendy. For us this season was quite profitable than the past one."

Designer Rinku Sobti, who has also displayed her stall at the event but did not took her collection on the ramp feels, "For me the business has been good for me as there were lot of queries and buying happened."

On not showcasing her collection on the ramp she says, "Showcasing the collection on the ramp is a very important and tedious task. As this time I was not fully prepared, so I thought of just keeping away from showcasing the collection on the ramp. However, I will surely be doing something in the next season."

Meanwhile, where some of the designers were not happy of generating more business at the fashion event, some were just content on getting the good business at the mega event.
