The energy levels soared high at 'TASSEL 2010' with the showing of graduating students of INIFD, Andheri, Mumbai. Amidst standing ovation from the audience, the young designers proved their fashion sense and a yen for drama.
The founders of the institute, Vivek and Mamta Gautam were at the helm of affairs and made sure that the students made the most of the opportunity that they achieved with their hard work over couple of months.
The colour, cut and silhouette of the new age were splashed on the runway as top models like Himangi Parte, Aanchal Kumar, Diandra Soares, Sucheta Sharma, and the like showcased their collections.
The chief guest for the evening was Mandira Bedi who is a style icon herself, looked stunning in her pink dress and cheered and encouraged the young designers. "I hope in near future, these faces would be the one who will design some smart clothes for me. I am amazed to see the talent of these young student designers," said a smiling Mandira.
Mandira sat through the entire show that consisted of 16 sequences with designers showing collections of Mad House Party, Khaadi in Panache, Malhaar, Baleno, Hayaa and the like. She gave away the 'Theme of Year' award to Navna for her collection titled 'Shuffle', based on playing cards.
The jury had attendance from designers like Swapnil Shinde, Salim Asgarally, Tina Bedi who made a mark in Dubai Fashion Week, writer Vinnta Nannda, design expert Megan Riley, RJ Malini Agarwal, and the likes.
"We thoroughly appreciate the passion behind each student’s efforts and application to put together the striking ensembles for the amazing collections," said an excited Swapnil.
The Slumdog Millionaire little 'Jamal' (Aayush) and Adam Bedi walked the ramp as show stoppers. The show was held together by an enthusiastic Nisha Harale, who wore two hats as she hosted and choreographed the whole show.
"In this increasingly design oriented world, art and design reflect and shape all kinds of experiences. Through rigorous practice and critical scholarship, Tassel is a unique platform provided by INFID. We prepare students to be leaders in the fashion industry and live with respect in the society," signed off Vivek.
