Want to become a showstopper in your campus? Want to look hip and happening? Want to look different? Just refresh you fashion sense and you could be the coolest one in your college. Conventional tee and jeans are such a turn-off that chances are others will boo once you step inside your college. You must try out new things to be in the 'hot and happening' league – there’s no harm in it after all.

College life gives you the long-cherished freedom from tedious school uniforms. So, it’s always sensible to shape up yourself to take the plunge. It will give you the much-needed confidence to sashay down the campus with style. College campus is the ideal place for impromptu ramp walk with dazzling hues and cool styles. So, don’t miss the opportunity to get your first impression bang on target.

"Before going to college, it's important to know what's in, what's out, what's cool and what's not. It's not easy making heads turn," says a seasoned campus-hopper. Therefore, our suggestion to all college goers - do something new to get noticed. It’s time to show off, isn’t it?

Youngsters are also ready to pay anything to load their wardrobe with all the latest branded and non-branded clothes. "I spend at least Rs 15,000 at the start of the session, and throughout the year I spend more according to the demands of fashion," The Times of India quoted Nirzari Modi, a student of fashion design as saying.

If you have some hard cash to send on your clothes and accessories, we can give you the low-down on the hottest trends in campus fashion. Just roam through any premier college campus in your city and you could pick up various popular fashion trends. Short skirts, low-waist jeans, hip belts on long tees, vibrant eyeliners, funky earrings are quite popular in these days. You could make your own fashion statement with Arabic lehengas teamed with short tees or kurtis as well. Among accessories stone-studded jewellery is in vogue.

"The emphasis should be on comfort and style. Double tees - like a halter top over a spaghetti top with a toned out low-waist jeans - are a rage. 'Street' fashion is 'in' as well. So go for short skirts, capris, halters and spaghetti tops," suggests designer Rebecca D'Souza.

The 60’s and 70’s retro look is also back and college goers are going mad over it. So, you can check out the latest retro trend before buying your fashion wear. You can also try t-shirts and kurtis teamed up with a pair of jeans or leggings.

Bollywood films also have a strong influence over campus fashion. If you want to slip into the Shilpa Shetty’s smart and ethnic look in ‘Metro,’ try long and knee-length skirts and you could well feel the difference.

For boys, there is trendy kurtas and self-designed tees. T-shirts with creative one-liners are in. You can also buy some stylish colourful shirts as well. Boys are also in love with loose low-waist jeans combined with a trendy short shirt or tee.

As far as accessories are concerned, you can go for sling bang with mirror work. For a bohemian look, long bead neckwears touching the belly button are quite fashionable.
