After Delhi, It’s a fashion split in Kolkata. The breakaway faction led by Yudhajit Dutta, has announced KLFW under a new banner. Hence, the upcoming 'Kolkata Lifestyle Fashion Week' will experience many cricketers in place of models and showstoppers.
After Delhi’s fashion week underwent a bitter split two years back, the just two season old Kolkata Fashion Week has now split.
Kolkata will host 'Two' fashion shows coming head to head this season; Kolkata Fashion Week (KFW) season III and Kolkata Fashion Lifestyle week (KFLW).
Yudhajit Dutta will now be hosting KLFW at P C Chandra Greens, under the Purple People Management Banner, February 24-28, 2010.
KLFW promises to come-up with bigger and better show. The first season of Yudhajit’s show will be coming up with 40 National designers.
‘Eco Fashion’
The theme 'Eco Fashion' will focus on the rich heritage of weavers and weaves in Bengal. The event will celebrate designers who have created natural fiber and who are the face of Indian fashion globally.
Yudhajit Dutta, Managing Director, Purple People Management says, " I gave my heart and soul in KFW, split was due to 'difference in opinion'. But, my coming show will be bigger and better. There will be more new faces and many cricketers this season. There will be five days long event with high-end fashion, glamour and lifestyle.”
Dutta adds up, "The event will move ahead to create an international property, which talks of fashion as an industry, saluting the gen next designers, doyens of Kolkata and national designers. It will create canvas and serious business."
'Fashion show doesn’t require any star or model'
"According to me a fashion show doesn’t require any star or model but, someone who is very glamorous and attracts everyone. It can be any one under the sun. I feel getting cricketers on ramp is just attraction and audience is attracted more, Models are common amongst all, hence I aspire for something different. There are more new faces in first season of KLFW. My special showstopper in KFW II was Ustad Amjad Ali Khan; he is neither a Bollywood star nor a model. So, my aim is always for 'Something different'.
There seems to be the best of Indian fashion at KFLW. Now, everybody is thinking about the fate of KFW as there is no hint of its schedule or the venue. Not only the event; the look, perspective and feel may be uniquely natural with a chic edge that is a first in many ways.
Yudhajit signs off saying, "I am not aware about the other fashion week in Kolkata. I just believe better one will sustain till the end."
However, Dutta doesn’t comment much on KFW.
