Bolly-land is full of glamour, shimmer, dazzle and shine. Looking beautiful is kind of a given when the stars attend a party or any event. Even in movies, these days, a perfect look top-to-toe is a must! Several stars have even confessed that the pressure to look perfect is just too much at times.
So what do they do then? Rely on trusted names and have their favourite designer by their side always, and voila! The look can never go wrong!
If past records are observed, designers and stylists have literally 'made' stars. And once a look in a movie becomes an audience favourite, the designer becomes the star's 'best friend'.
Urmila Matondkar was an instant sensation with 'Rangeela' and the one who was responsible for her look there was Manish Malhotra. 'Rangeela' became a super hit and Manish found a permanent client in Urmila.
Same was the case with Karisma Kapoor, soon followed by little sister Kareena. These days there's hardly any event or party where the Kapoor sisters aren't spotted wearing Manish's creations!
Manish has also been a hot favourite with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who absolutely can't do without the designer if it is a traditional look she's sporting. However, these days the lady also goes for Sabyasachi for her Anarkalis and sarees. She even wore Sabyasachi sarees at her appearance on Oprah and for the Cannes Red Carpet. Nachiket Barve and Abu-Sandeep are other favourites for Jaya Bachchan and her bahu.
Rocky S was the man responsible for Hrithik's to-die-for style in his early days, and Hrithik has never ditched Rocky ever since. He designed for the superstar in 'Krrish', 'Koi Mil Gaya', 'Mujhse Dosti Karoge', 'Yaadein' and many more, and almost became Hrithik's lucky charm.
Stars like Vidya Balan and Rani Mukherjee have been loyal fans of Sabyasachi Mukherjee. Sabyasachi sarees, Anarkalis, angarkhas, stoles and dupattas have been spotted on Rani and Vidya at least a zillion times, but have almost never failed.
Even the 'not-so-starry stars' have their favourites. Take for instance Isha Koppikar, who swears by Anita Dongre, and the two are almost like buddies! Mugdha Godse has appeared bunch of times in Swapnil Shinde outfits; Amrita Rao and Geeta Basra are totally in love with Archana Kochhar, while Sridevi has confessed her love for Maheka Mirpuri.
Some say the stars are way too superstitious to change their designers and stylists, if a particular designer has helped them get a hit; some say that while working together, the stars and the designers just become great friends and continue being together.
The stars, however, say that having a favourite helps them get the perfect look, right fit and a signature style...all just another thing about being a celebrity with the 'starry aura'.
