Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi's office has said that there was no truth in the news that Rahul would walk the ramp at Indian Fashion Carnival (IFC) in Kolkata along with his sister Priyanka Gandhi.
On the other hand, the proposed September 10-12 event of IFC was called off this afternoon. The announcement of calling off the event by Mindscape Maestro One came after the denial message from Rahul Gandhi's office.
The officials at Rahul Gandhi's office stated that there was no fact in the news that Rahul and his sister would walk the ramp. A similar announcement was made by the officials at Congress president Sonia Gandhi's office. They said that they were not aware of any such development.
An official from Rahul's office says, "Absolutely incorrect. We don't know where it is coming from."
A supplement of a national daily reported on Friday that the brother-sister duo might walk the ramp at the grand finale of IFC for designer Riyaz Gangji in a khadi collection that he would showcase as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.
A supplement of a Kolkata based daily also reported recently that, a hush push buzz deliberately doing the rounds is that Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Sachin Pilot would make their ramp debut at the finale event.
Pratik Sen, director of Mindscape Maestro One, organiser of IFC said when approached by IANS, "I am not aware of it."
Pratik Sen, director of Mindscape Maestro One, made the announcement about 'Indian Fashion Carnival' on September 1 at Hyatt Regency and explained about the grand finale show. The announcement was broadcasted in regional news channels 'Star Anando' and '24 Bangla'.
Now, Pratik took a U turn and denied what he said earlier and finally called off the show today afternoon. Critics feel that Pratik might have said just to gain publicity, but when the denial came, the strategy might have worked the other way.
