Chic Styles, Triumphant Show

By: Anju Gupta, Feme Fashions Bureau, Mumbai Dt: 05/04/2012
Lingerie giant 'Triumph International' hosted the world wide lingerie design contest here in Mumbai a couple of days ago. With this they also launched the much-awaited 'Wild and Sexy' range of animal printed lingerie.

'Wild and Sexy' is an eclectic collection that’s wild on colour and smooth on fit. For women who are confident, fashionable and proud of themselves, this collection is playful and sexy and would be every women's delight. Carved in soft fabric and leopard prints the highlights of the collection is the T-shirt bra range that is made with special and sensitive fabric.

Speaking at the event, Shalindra Fernando, Triumph International Head of Sales and Marketing for India and Sri Lanka, said, "Triumph is proud to conduct the TIA contest in India for the fifth consecutive year. This event has now cemented its place in the global fashion calendar, and is an amazing opportunity for young designers to showcase their talent and creativity. The Indian designers who have represented the country in the past have always made their mark, and we are hopeful that this year's candidate will go a step beyond that and place within the top three in Shanghai."

Models walked in wearing the collection and soon after this there was another show put up by the very many young designers of different fashion schools who were competing against each other to qualify for the final round of the Inspiration Award 2012, to be held in Shanghai this coming October. Once here an International jury and an online audience will select the winner from among 29 countries.

With ‘Dragons and Butterflies’ as the theme, the entrants had to express their take on these quintessential Chinese symbols.Simple designs and glamorous cuts lingerie in colours of colours like, red, pink, white, black, mauve, peach made quite a statement on the ramp.

Judged by fashionistas Anna Singh, Anupama Verma, Vikram Bawa, Nisha Jamwal and Anchal Kumar it was talented and young designer Pooja Upadhyaya who emerged as the winner.

Pooja's theme was based on duality, a stylish line that led to her victory. Said Pooja after winning, "Lingerie enhances the female figure, her curves and woman look beautiful. Basically the theme was dragon and butterfly and the theme I derived from it was duality and how the hard and soft mix together to create one story similarly I chose the fabrics and surface development techniques and the form of the garments which envelopes around the female figure in a very liquid way."
