There are eight fresh promising budding designers who have been selected to show case their collection at the Lakme Fashion Week, Summer Resort 2010. Theses designers will be take up to the ramp on the second day of the fashion festival.
Out of the eight designers who will be showcasing their designs, three are from INIFD (International Institute of Fashion Design). This fashion institute is one of those which manages to give talented and creative designers every year. Budding designers Sabah Khan and duo Sukhwant and Aastha are the lucky selected ones who have be chosen amongst from over 100 centers of INIFD.
We met these designers to know more about their collection and how are they planning to make a mark. Sabah has taken a cue from the biggest slums of Asia- Dharavi. Her collection is called ‘No Class’ and has used a lot of patch work on her collections.
She says, “I have seen people in slums using patches on their clothes and it often results in inter-mingling of bright colors. I have created my collection keeping that in mind”. The girl has used friendly fabrics like linen and cotton and has used a lot of digital prints and patch works. The colours that she has used are more earthy than vibrant and they compromise of bright greens and purples with dull browns.
Student designer duo Sukhwant and Aastha will be presenting a collection which they have based on the theme of Auction of Humanity. The two have used concepts like slavery and their collection has a lot of silhouettes with fitted waistlines, bandage sleeves and detailing, including gathers and belts. They have used very harsh colours like greys, and blacks but beige will help relax the eyes from their collection.
