Arts Forward brings the first of its kind fashion weekend titled 'McDowell Signature North East Fashion Weekend'. The three day-long event will feature prêt collection by top Indian and local designers like Ritu Kumar, Wendell Rodericks, Rina Dhaka, Nandini Baruwa, Atsu Sekhose and many more to name.
Ace designer Ritu Kumar says, "I am very happy to be part of this team. Its a good start to promote fashion trend in an abandoned city. Such awareness is always good to unite Indian fashion industry from nook and corner of the country."
Delhi-based designer Atsu says, "I am happy to showcase my stuff and talent in my home land. It is good to be part of such a show where a kind of fashion awareness will come to people."
While Kolkata-based designer Soumitro Mondal says, "NE region is a very happening and talented place. Many NE talents are known worldwide say the work, fabrics, artistry creations etc. Its good to join them in a fashion weekend."
The mint fresh fashion affair will get to see fashionable showstoppers consisting of a mix of celebrities from Bollywood as well as other popular celebs from the North-East India.
Apart from the exceedingly talented designers, model Shruti Agarwal is known to be the face of new-fangled fashion weekend. The show will also entertain new faces of model in NE region by 'The bold and beautiful model hunt' in Shillong, Guhwati and Dimapur.
We will also get to see many new faces of designers in emerging category. The 'Emerging Designer North East Contest' will pick talented rising designers form the region who will showcase their design vision at 'Signature North East Fashion Weekend'.
Jewellery designer, Gauri says, "It good to showcase stuff in such a city where people gets inspired from the designs and the stuff. I am into silver jewellery, my designs will surely dazzle the NE fashion weekend ramp."
Paramita Saha, Director, Arts Forward says, "Our main aim is to bring out the work from the North East and give it a national platform. Well, fashion weeks creates popularity among fashion enthusiasts, hence to make the region lively and fashionable we have taken an initiative to bring such event in N-E region."
North East fashion weekend brings an opportunity to showcase the talent that has largely been restricted to the region so far.
