Shivalika Sharma, founder of The Modelling Academy, Mumbai, brings out the secret of the walk and the talk. The lady, shares her benevolence towards the upcoming models and the unique way of 'Beauty Pageant Training' and 'Personality Development'. Shivalika Sharma was crowned the second runner-up of Gladrags Mrs India in 2009.
What motivated you to start TMA, The Modelling Academy?
Fashion industry is growing in India. When I had started modelling, there was no one to guide, hardly people had basic knowledge about fashion and modelling. I took a chance to share my experiences through TMA. Being associated with many beauty pageants, ramp, shows, soaps etc. I make sure to give my best from all heads and fields through TMA. Though, it's a six months old baby, but there is no better place than this. There is still long way to go.
Unique features of TMA?
TMA is not just an academy but a platform for complete personality development and beauty pageant training. There are special heads to name some; body language, etiquettes, awareness, the walk, picture perfect, the wardrobe, personality, breakdown, last minute tips and many more. I make it a point to share each phase of my career with my candidates. There is always a unique approach to keep them updated and boast their dressing personality like - A very fine day they are asked to dress-up for a wedding, they are intimated suddenly to get ready for picnic and so on. So, there is a personal touch always, which I feel is hard to find elsewhere. We even deal with customized schedule. Just because it is Mumbai and people are found busy in something or the other simultaneously. Hence, to pace up with everyone we are more into customized module because everyone is unique.
You mentioned 'Breakdown', what kind of programme is this?
This is basically a mode to cope up with the gloom. Everyone in life comes across with the down-turn stage. There are situations which takes one in different dimension. Hence, to make up the situation is my interest.
What is TMA's core speciality?
TMA's core speciality lies in training and grooming aspirants for National and International beauty pageants say Miss India, Mrs India, Mega Model, Man Hunt, Fashion shows, etc
Things that you learnt from TMA?
An idea of larger picture has been developed from various aspirants. Each one coming here has something unique, some learn faster and others needs time to cope up with the new change. Hence, I don't look forward to change someone but anything for a lifetime, so that one remembers it throughout. It is a mutual profession.
Your next move/ future plans?
My next move is, training aspirants for 'Gladrags Mrs India' 2011.
Any message for the upcoming aspirants/models?
Life is like verve. Things like beauty, personality, career etc are related with each-other. One should always be prepared for the best. There are times when opportunity gives you less space. Hence, each one of us should grab the better ones suitable. Henceforth, we should enhance our personality intelligently; it's eternal, moves on till the last breathe. It isn't necessary that you win the beauty pageant, after all from 25 finalists only one gets through the crown. Hence, end of the day winner is just one.
