Mumbai's much awaited Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2010 is just about to begin. Everyone who eats, drinks and sleeps fashion is eagerly waiting for the fashion festival to begin. Models are busy gearing up to make quick money while cosmetic surgeons are busy booking appointments from many known names who want to look great on and off the ramp.
According to reliable sources, models, socialites, newbies and attention seekers are queuing up to go under knives and get services that will make them look far more younger than their actual ages. Out of all the services that are available Botox shots, jaw fixing, chin tucks, crow feet removal and liposuction are in demand.
Dr Suman Singh who works with a famous cosmetic surgeon based in South Mumbai says, "We have our diaries full of appointments in the coming weeks. Yes we have models and socialites who want treatments that will help them look young and much younger than their actual ages." When asked to name a few of them she flatly refused saying it’s too personal and something that could not be divulged.
Male models and female models that are in the thirties are forming the major part of this chunk that is going in for treatment. Another source says that this time hardly any new face got selected to walk the ramp. All old and known faces will be seen on and off the ramp and this is the main reason that has encouraged them to go in for the special treatments.
Another surgeon requesting anonymity says, "Last month I had some seven models that came in to get rhinoplasty, Botox shots and dermal fillers. This month I will have nine of the known names (models and socialites) who will go under knives." When asked about the treatment they have opted for, the surgeon replies, "One is jaw fixing, then I have two of them who will go in for breast augmentation and rest others are for Botox, chin tuck and hair transplant."
What's surprising is the fact that the list of the patients does not only include models and socialites, but also the newbies who enter these events to grab attention. Dr Singh says, "I have a few models who have been going through some treatments since past few months now. But since last month I have been receiving request from teenagers and youths who are keen to go for Botox treatments. They just don't need to go for it."
These aspiring ones attend the events and parties to grab attention and they feel they may end up with some big assignments in the pockets. But that's not true at all and these guys end up fooling themselves.
The treatment starts from Rs 10000 and goes in lakhs as per the demands and nature of the treatment. But people are hardly bothered about money. All they want is to look good and attractive.
