Just a few years ago sweet 16 was an age which was all about few acne, glowing skin and too much of smiles. The changes that a girl goes in these years make her more beautiful and develop her for the rest of her life.
But alas, the sweet 16 is sweet no more. In fact the girls in this age group and little over twenties have started getting skin treatments that’s made for women who are in the early thirties and need to look after their skin so that it's free of wrinkles, dark circles and looks young.
Facials have become common for college girls at such a tender age and these girls do not even shy away from using number of anti-ageing creams that's available in market these days. From using vitamin pills to special oils to enhance the beauty of their skin, there are hardly anything that’s left a girl is not trying these days.
Beauty expert Sumona Das says, "Yes I do have girl clients who are very young to go for facials, skin peels and other advanced treatments. In fact many a times I have turned them away saying I won’t do anything that they don't require."
A clean-up is a process that helps reduce acne and is best for young girls. But facials are for women above 25 years of age and that too there are varieties that are made for different age group.
Says Sumona, "For younger women chocolate, fruit, aloe-vera, pearl and few others are the options. But for women above 30, we have number of options that differs from whitening, tightening, thermo, glycolic and different kinds of peels. The older you are, the number of options increases."
Nidhi Khutaria who is preparing for her 12th board says, "I get a fruit facial every 4 weeks because it helps my skin glow looks much beautiful and also helps me relax. I don't worry about the harm it may cause in future, but I think if I will get an expensive treatment every month, my skin will always be the same as it is now."
Well this pretty little woman is not even aware of the contents and chemicals that goes in the making of these facial creams. Another famous trend is of using different vitamin oils and popping multi-vitamin pills to make sure skin is healthier.
Rishabh Salgaonkar who own and cosmetic store in Andheri says, "These girls come to me and ask for Vitamin E and Vitamin A capsules. I even sell beauty oils and these girls are ready to spend thrice the actual amount of the product even when they don't it."
In a age when girls should protect their skin from pollution and dirt, they have been harming it with harsh chemicals and treatments that's just not made for them.
