Few other renowned designers who have designed for the giants company include late Alexander Mcqueen, Yashuhiro Mihara and Serqio Rossi. Aki Narula is the new one to join the league and has designed for women’s line for the brand. Puma got in touch with the designer in January last year when they were looking out for a new designer to join them on-board. There were many other known names short-listed along with him and they all gave their presentation.
Aki got a positive call from the company in march and he was asked to go ahead with his new line for the sportswear. The price range of the sports line starts from Rs 999 onwards and the fact that the prices are not sky high will draw crowds to buy Aki’s creations from Puma stores all over.
The Spring / Summer line is inspired from Rangoli and the Japanese art of origami and hence there are tops with soft drapes and neon tracks. The combination is to highlight the outfit, bright graphic flip-flops with rangoli motifs.
Aki says, “fashion inspires me a lot and what's happening around me also helps. I get inspired from everything like a walk down the street, a flea market, the beach or anything”. Aki's collection is sure becoming the talk of the town and is well received by those who love sports.
Bhakti Kher a workout addict says, “I heard this from one of my friends that Aki has launched a new line for women at Puma. The same evening I went and shopped for myself. I have got two t-shirts, a few nylon tracks, and a funky wedge. I am very happy that I will now wear designer outfits while working out”.
